The International Judo Federation (IJF) is the international governing body of the Olympic sport of Judo recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and consisting of 187 member National Federations grouped into 5 Continental Unions (Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania and Panamerica).

USA Judo, a 501-c-3 non-profit organization, is governed by a Board of Directors with representation from all areas of the judo family, including athletes, coaches, referees and other constituents. This group meets semi-annually during meetings hosted at the USA Judo National Championships (April) and U.S. Open (June).

The British Judo Association (BJA) is the National Governing Body for the Olympic Sport of Judo in Great Britain. The Association represents Great Britain internationally and is a member of The International Judo Federation, The European Judo Union, The Judo Conferderation of the European Union, The British Olympic Association, The Central Council of Physical Recreation, Commonwealth Judo Association, and the Commonwealth Games Council.
